A further comment on this, probably at a tangent to what Edgar is
doing. On Monday I belatedly discovered that qtwebengine-5.9.2
included a number of CVE fixes from chromium (-61, I think). Since
then I've been updating my "supported" systems (7.10 and newer) for
that, because I use qupzilla as my secondary browser.

I don't understand Edgar's comments about qt not building: on my
existing systems with qt-5.8 or later, I had no need to rebuild qt -
but on 7.10 it was 5.7 and there I did build 5.9.2 (and also remove
old 5.7 headers and libs, because qtwebengine-5.9 FTBFS if 5.7
headers are present).

After that, I noticed that I hadn't undated openssl-1.0.2 on one
system - that turned out to be painful, for some reason
libcrypto.so.1.0.0 ended up with a length of zero. At that point,
openssl (program) was broken, also qwenview and kmix. So I did my
current upgrade of openssl-1.1.0 and just the libs from 1.0.2 : that
fixed the breakage, I don't begin to understand the detail of
openssl, but it's possible something in 1.0.2m breaks an update of
shared libs even where only 1.0.2 is installed - so take care when
upgrading it.

Then I read Bruce's reply and realised 5.9.3 is out - and searching,
it turns out there are more CVE fixes from chromium picked up in
that. <sigh/> - I've just started my first attempt at a 5.9.3
upgrade.
