Hi Lisa, Answer me this question, and I'll go from there. How do you connect to the internet? Hello everyone, as the subject line says, I would like to know how to check, and see if my windows firewall is turned on? I know this might sound like a dumb question, but if the firewall is turned on, how does viruses get through? I thought the windows firewall was supposed to prevent unwanted things from getting into your computer. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that one. What got me wondering about this was my friend told me that when he was on the Internet he lost all of his music. He says that someone wiped it off of his harddrive. I have an external drive with all of my music on it, and my friend says that I should unplug the external drive when I'm on the Internet. Could someone really get into my computer, and take everything off of my external drive? Hopefully someone out here will have an answer for me. I do run my anti-virus, and anti-spyware on a regular bases. I have windows XP home, and I am running jaws 6. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated!
