Hello Chris I have never used Microsoft document Imaging to OCR 2 pages at once on a flatbed so I do not know if it will do this. You may have to buy software if you want to do this or scan 1 page at a time if you want to keep the "free option" although Office is not free. Where Microsoft Document Imaging comes into its own is where it is linked to a fast duplex document scanner. To use one of these you need to resign yourself to tearing pages out of books you have bought or using photocopying as below. I do have bought software which can cope with 2 pages at once on a flatbed but as I say I still find the OCR better on Document Imaging so I have tried to find ways around this problem. In a situation where I have only wanted to read a small part of a book I have asked my lecturer to tell me what the relevant page numbers are. I been lucky in getting someone to photocopy the relevant pages which scanned fine. Sometimes people in a library will help with this. On one occasion I needed 100 pages of a hugely expensive law book costing about 100 pounds sterling - about $200 I think. In this case I took the book to a photocopy shop and they did the copying for about £10 sterling. These are all compromises but I also do not have the time to use a flatbed to read as this is too slow. Thankfully the Internet is increasing useful in my field which avoids some of these problems. Someone else might know how to tweak Microsoft Document Imaging which would be very interesting.
