I'd like to point out that NVDA is still technically in beta version 0.5 or 
something to that effect. Now it will work in some areas that JAWS will not 
interestingly enough. I'm personally planning on using the thing especially 
on systems that do not have another screen reader already installed, 
friends, family ETC. Also there is an ISO file available for burning on to a 
CD free for download along with the normal offering.

FWIW, if I remember correctly though, Thunder is free for home/personal
use - not sure if that side of it has changed though.
