I know it sounds a bit strange, but anyway, waht it comes down to is that although I've had basically the same internet connection set up on both my machines, and I take turns plugging the network cable into one then the other, the one now seems unable to actually access the internet although it can still ping the router, and also sometimes seems able to ping IP addresses as well, but, obviously, the DNS stuff isn't working like it should, and for some or other reason, although they were both using DHCP to automatically find the necessary DNS server, I can now no longer set it to use that option on the one machine, and even if I then go and manually enter two DNS server IP addresses into the TCP/IP settings dialogue, it still doesn't seem able to resolve hostnames etc., so I was just wondering if there's anything likely to be simple that I need to 'fix', or alternatively, if I just trash that network connection, could I just copy the working one over from the other machine, or would I need to reconfigure it on the 'broken' machine?
Also, do you think it's likely to work if I create a new connection if this one isn't working? (along these lines, if I hook it up to the old dial-up connection, it does in fact seem to work fine) Hope this isn't a bit too technical for this list, and thanks in advance Jacob Kruger Blind Biker Skype: BlindZA '...Fate had broken his body, but not his spirit...'
