Hi Jacob, First question, why do you only have one ethernet cable? It would be best all the way round, if you left both machines connected to the router, instead of swapping the cable between machines. You've already established that the connection to the server is good, so my suggestion would be this: 1. Acquire and additional ethernet cable, so that both machines will be connected at the same time. 2. Rebuild the network from a software standpoint. this is very easy useing the network setup wizard in Windows XP. Make sure you follow the prompts exactly. You didn't say, but it sounds like you are useing a 2wire residential gateway The factory settings for your default gateway should be fine. 3. If after completing these steps you are still experiencing the problem on the one machine, I would replace the NIC in the problem machine. You didn't say, but I suspect you have an on-board NIC on the problem machine, if so, it has probably failed. HTH, Richard Q.
