If you go into Windows Update you will find an "Update History" link and in 
there it will show the dates of any updates installed and whether or not 
they were successful.

There are probably other places too in your system where you can find this 
link.  I also recommend you look in Control Panel under Security Centre, if 
you have it, and also System under Automatic Updates tab.
