John: Uninstalling OpenBook or JAWS from the control panel does not remove all of the entries in the registry, these programs should be uninstalled with the programs own uninstall option. I am not sure this will work: but you might try reinstalling OpenBook7, then uninstalling it with the uninstall option, then maybe 8 would install. HTH, George R.
