This is excellent advice.

Just to add that on some but not all older PC configurations a USB 1
driver is loaded even though it is a high speed USB port. In these
circumstances you can update the USB driver from 1 to 2, You do this by
running a general windows update and then going to Device Manager. Locate
the Intel driver under Universal Serial Bus and use the application key to
select update driver. I have used this method to ensure USB ports run at hi
speed on an older PC. Of course if your USB port cannot physically work at
high speed this will not work.

Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] needing advice on how to use a flash drive

Hi Jason,

USB 2 is the same as USB 1.1, only it's a lot faster. On the flash drive, if
you feel for the opposite end to the end with the wheel thing on the end of
it as you call it, you'll find that that end pulls off. That end's only a
protection cap for the USB connector, which is built into the unit. As for
your machine supporting USB 2, the newer the machine, the more likely it
supports USB 2. if you plug the drive in, and you get a message saying that
the drive can run faster, your machine has only got uSB 1.1 ports, but don't
worry, you can still use it, only it'll be a lot slower than if you were to
have a USB 2 port.

Hope This Helps

Regards

Aiden
