Hi Folks,

Just to add to what has been said already, it has been my experience that
many USB flash drives come already equipped with software already installed
on the drive.

I would recommend that a format of the drive be done before using the drive
the way you want to.

Many drives that contain their own software installed on the drive, or which
come with the drive itself on a separate CD may actually do more harm than
good, as it can cause the drive to have write errors and the like.

Formatting the drive will not make a difference in it's functionality, nor
will it affect it's usage.

To format the drive, one only needs to highlight the drive in your My
Computer folder, then press the applications key, and arrow down to
format...

This will open up the format utility dialog box, which you can then use to
format the drive.

I would also recommend running a Windows or Microsoft update with the drive
plugged in, as there may be device drivers that are not readily installed
for that particular make of flash drive.

The problems I have outlined above are most commonly occurring on SanDisk
flash drives, and again, can be remedied by formatting the drive once you
plug it in.
