I tried the steps that you gave for putting a sound to the Caps Lock and it
didn't work for me. I
am using JAWS 7.0, Windows XP and IE6.

Hi Sue,

Here are the steps on turning off MS error reporting below.

Pesky Error Reports & CAPS Beeping

One feature of Windows XP that most of us can live without is error
reporting. Every time a program crashes it wants to send a report to
Microsoft. Here's how to disable this "feature".

  1.. Click Start

  2.. Open Control Panel

  3.. Click on System

4.. Click on the Advanced tab (at the top)

5.. Click on the error reporting button (on the bottom of the windows)

  6.. Select Disable error reporting

  7.. Click OK.

Now if a program crashes you won't have to wait while an error report is
sent to Microsoft.

People hit the caps lock accidentally, and type in all capital letters. At
best, that's irritating. In e-mail, it's considered bad manners, maybe your
message will be discarded. Here's a way of controlling this situation.

Attach a sound to it!

  1.. Click Start

  2.. Open Control Panel

  3.. Double-click Accessibility Options

4.. On the Keyboard tab, select Use ToggleKeys

That attaches a beep to Caps Lock.

Close Window

Sue,

I know you can switch off error message reporting but can't remember how.
Hopefully, somebody else will remember.
