1. Have you tried another USB port?
2. What format method did you use? Some USB devices have only a limited
support of format types. The best bet is usually to make sure that it is the
lowest format option. From memory this is FAT 16 I think. You may need to
check with the manufacturers .
3. Can you insert this device into another PC to see if it is recognised?
Perhaps a laptop or somebody else's machine. If there is failure here also
it points to a hardware fault on the mp3 player.
4. It is possible that you may have to reset your USB drivers and database.
If you want you can do this from within control panel on XP. I don't know
if these instructions will work on Vista. With all corrections to drivers
there is a risk of instability but I have done this several times in the
past without problems.

First of all unplug all your USB devices except your keyboard and if you use
one mouse.
In Control Panel find the System applet.
Press Control tab until you hear hardware.
Press tab once for device manager.
Press tab again to enter a tree view of all your devices.
Cursor down until you hear Universal Serial Bus controllers
Press right arrow and then cursor down to enter the list of USB drivers.
You need to find your main USB driver
On my PC this is called
Intel(R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Universal Host Controller - 27CA
Press delete to remove this.
Your PC should immediately start to reinstall this and you may hear the
sounds of your keyboard being recognised again.
Close down device manager.
Restart your PC.
Once your computer has completely finished loading start to replug your USV
devices one by one and let your computer recognise them. Have any driver
disks which may be necessary ready to hand. Providing there is no hardware
fault this could help you refind your device.

sound though when I plug in my zenstone but not with the muvo t 100 player.
