RSS feeds in Firefox are totally inaccessible with JAWS. Unlike IE, firefox provides no audible alert when you encounter a web page with RSS feeds. You cannot assign a Windows sound scheme to the "feed discovered" event in Firefox; you can only do so for IE, for obvious reasons. And JAWS does not announce "RSS Feed" as it does in IE. So there is no way to bookmark these pages without sighted assistance. There is also no way to import your list of feeds into Firefox from IE. So if you are a heavy user of RSS feeds, you'd better stick with IE, and consider using Firefox only for its Webvisum feature.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] accessibleRSS options for firefox

Hi all,

I'm thinking of switching completely over to firefox for all internet serfing over the next few weeks. The only problem i've got with firefox is that I can't figure out how the live bookmarks work as it compares to RSS feeds in IE. Could someone please explain how the reading of RSS feeds can be done with a screen reader in firefox?

Aiden
