Firefox tells me that I can subscribe to the feeds. It's not like IE with a
sound. But on the top of the page it shows how I'd like to be subscribed
and a button to do this. And if I subscribe, I've got to go to the bookmark
menu to look for news which is very uncomfortable and unreliable.

Unfortunately, Thunderbird, like Firefox offers no audible alert to let
you know that you have landed on a web page that contains RSS feeds. Only
IE has this feature. So again, it is impossible for a blind user to
detect feeds in Firefox or Thunderbird without sighted assistance. And as
with Firefox, there is no way to import your feeds list into Thunderbird
from IE. However, you may be able to add feeds manually in Thunderbird by
copying and pasting the URl for each of your IE feeds into the appropriate
field of the RSS Subscription dialog of Thunderbird. You just won't be
able to detect web pages that contain RSS feeds unless you use IE.

This is why I had interest in thunderbird email client because it says
it can put RSS feeds into an email type version and it has another means
of allowing you to access RSS. It might be worth checking into. I just
couldn't seem to make it work with my hotmail account because of the fact
I couldn't get the "middle man" program to operate. If you have an email
account through some other server aside from hotmail, though, you
shouldn't need to bother with any middle man program.
