Some OCR programs can extract any text in the picture. I use an old version of OmniPage in those situations. Sometimes, I just get my daughter to read it to me and save me the hassle. I believe most or all OCR programs can work with JPG images.

Hi Rick,
sorry, forgot to include that. It's a jpg file. If I am correct, doesn't that usually refer to a photo or picture? If so, that might make it hard for Jaws to read. The attachment contains information on a New Year's Eve dinner that was advertised. And I requested more information on.
Thanks Jason

Hi Jason,
We'll need to know the file extension , before we can tell you the best way to proceed.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] how do you select which program an attachment isopened with

Hi list,
I received some information via an attachment. However, when I enter on the attachment to open it. I get a warning that no program has been associated with this file. How do I go about choosing a program to open it with? And how do I know which program is the best choice? I think it is only a text document. So I should think MS word etc should be okay.
I am using outlook express and XP home.
thanks Jason
