Hello, I'm trying to install windows7 on a virtual machine, but i have some problems.. I use virtual box 1.6 for the purpose. First I want to know if it's possible to upgrade from xp to windows 7?? Since I don't have sight, maybe it's easyer to upgrade from a previous version. I don't have unattended vista disk to upgrade from vista, so I can use only xp for this. First I install xp, but what kind of machine I should create. There's no windows 7 virtualization in this version of VB. Is it a problem to choose vista as a system, to install xp and then to upgrade to windows 7? I installed xp on vista virtual machine, so there's no problem at the moment. My biggest problem installing windows 7 is that VB gives me the following message:
VirtualBox - Information The virtual machine window is optimized to work in 32 bit color mode but the color quality of the virtual display is currently set to 24 bit. Please open the display properties dialog of the guest OS and select a 32 bit color mode, if it is available, for best possible performance of the virtual video subsystem. Note. Some operating systems, like OS/2, may actually work in 32 bit mode but report it as 24 bit (16 million colors). You may try to select a different color quality to see if this message disappears or you can simply disable the message now if you are sure the required color quality (32 bit) is not available in the given guest OS. Do not show this message again OK It doesn't give me this when I install XP. In controll panel/display, everything is ok, but when I start the instalation, the machine restarts and gives me this. What can I do? How do I change the setting? It does nothing when I press ok and remove the message. The other question I have is about the instalation itself. When I start it from xp, I have to choose between upgrading and keeping my files, and clean install. Is there important difference in terms of accessibility?
