The difference is that each has a different focus. The Olympus, from all that I've heard, is meant to be a middle-of-the-road recorder that can do stereo and so on. It has some playback capabilities, but nothing special, and was not specifically designed for the blind. The stream is a bottom-end recorder, sicne its role as a recording device is tertiary in importance. Its primary purpose is that of a book reader, its secondary purpose that of a music player. It is also fully accessible, being designed from the bottom up to be for the blind.
