When you restore from a backup image, the formatting of the hard drive will
be done as you restore the image. I believe that whatever the format of the
old drive is, the new drive will use the same format. When you complete the
restore you will want to check that the drive is formatted as NTFS. If the
drive is FAT32 then you will want to use a utility that will convert the
drive from FAT32 to NTFS.
As far as your Jaws authorization goes, I'm afraid that you will have to
re-authorize Jaws since Jaws will recognize that a hardware configuration
has been made and 'see' your computer as a different computer. This has been
my experience when upgrading a disk drive.
Hope this helps,
Russ

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Disk Restore Questions
I have room for only one hard disk in my PC and I want to upgrade to a
larger drive.
I have my original disk drive backed up with Acronis True-Image (which I
believe makes a image of my hard disk).
Two questions:
1. When I put in the new hard disk, must I reformat it first before
restoring the image with True-Image? I believe I can boot off a bootable
CD
made from True-Image and then pull the restore files off my USB drive.
2. As for Jaws - Do I need to remove the authorization from my
original drive and then re-authorize on the new drive or can I just
restore
the disk image to the new drive and not worry about Jaws?
Also, if I do have to format the new drive should I use FAT32 or NTFS?
Thanks.
n Pete
