Also, is there a good program for backing up your data? I have only one
partition and I know, if one of these days my windows refuses to load up,
I'm doomed.

I think it should be well worth noting here that what ever the format the
old drive is, will be formatted to the new drive, as someone else
suggested,
however, the thing is, and I don't think you realize this, as I made this
mistake also.
The fact is, the formatting that will get transferred from the old drive
to
the new drive means that the size of the old drive will get transferred
onto
the new drive.
In other words, if your old drive was a 20 gigabyte drive, and you're
restoring the image to the new drive that is 500 gigabytes, the computer
will see the 500 gigabyte drive as a 20 gigabyte drive.
I believe this is done to prevent piracy and other issues from occurring.
Suffice it to say, I do believe that you'll need to completely re-install
the software again if you want to use the new drive with the old hardware
configuration, otherwise you're new drive will be undetected for what it
really is.
