Well guess waht? It appears that IE 8 Compatibility mode doesn't work as advertised. I had IE 8 set to load all web pages in IE 7 compatibility mode, but I still kept getting the "IE needs to close" error message every time I tried to access the Radio Shack hoeme page I mentioned in my previous post. This never happened with IE 7 or Firefox. So if compatibility mode were working properly, then why couldn't I ever load this page successfully, no matter how many times I tried?

With IE 8, if you have a problem with a web site, it goes into compatibility mode which means that it will switch into IE 7 on its own. It alerts you. You just got to make sure compatibility mode is checked in your options menu. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Levy" <[email protected]>

Yeah, I also had problems accessing certain web pages with IE 8 and went back to IE 7, and now everything is find and dandy again.

Apart from the issues I suddenly had with regard to trying to edit emails I was either replying to or forwarding in OE due to (I presume) the virtual buffers etc., I also now yesterday got blocked when trying to search for one or two things on google, and the error/page returned said something like:
error 503, access denied

Was something relating to the site thinking I was actually a webcrawler engine or something trying to carry out an automated search or something, and I can only think it might have related to something like IE 8's cookie handling/content processing or something, but either way, now that have gone back to IE 7 it all seems alright again - let's see how it goes anyway...

FWIW, am using Windows XP Pro, and Jaws 10 at this stage.

Stay well
