Or maybe it works with Vista but not XP. But I encountered other problems with IE 8. I subscribe to an audio magazine called Talking Computers, a podcast aimed at blind computer users which uses embedded Real Player audio on its home page to speak the menu options for accessing its various functions. It turned out that this feature wouldn't work at all with IE 8 as it did with IE 7. The Talking Computers technical expert spent hours on the phone with MS trying to resolve this issue to no avail. He was so upset over their "so what if it doesn't work" attitude, that he is threatening to bring this matter directly to the attention of Bill Gates. So for now, IE 8 is not ready for prime time. Maybe when it becomes available as an automatic Update, I'll try it again.

I currently have the page open and I didn't even go into compatibility mode. It works fine. I have Jaws 10 and IE8. Maybe you just needed to reinstall it. Or maybe you had an add-on that was causing it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gerald Levy" <[email protected]>

With IE 8, I could never successfully load the Radio Shack home page (see below. Every time I tried to access it, I would get an error message that IE needs to close. So I would hit Space on the Close button and IE would then close and reopen on my home page or previously visited site with the message that IE was unable to recover the web page. I never encountered this problem with IE 7. Now that I'm using IE 7 again, the Radio Shack home page loads fine. BTW I'm using Windows XP Pro SP3 with JAWS 9, if that makes any difference.

I'm using IE 8 and it is working beautifully. I was going to switch to Firefox, but in the end IE is better. The only thing Firefox has is that caption feature. That is the only reason I am going to keep it in my Desktop. You probably just had to adjust a setting because I have had no problems what so ever. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jacob Kruger" <[email protected]>

Apart from the issues I suddenly had with regard to trying to edit emails I was either replying to or forwarding in OE due to (I presume) the virtual buffers etc., I also now yesterday got blocked when trying to search for one or two things on google, and the error/page returned said something like:
error 503, access denied

Was something relating to the site thinking I was actually a webcrawler engine or something trying to carry out an automated search or something, and I can only think it might have related to something like IE 8's cookie handling/content processing or something, but either way, now that have gone back to IE 7 it all seems alright again - let's see how it goes anyway...

FWIW, am using Windows XP Pro, and Jaws 10 at this stage.

Stay well
