Hi,

I only have one d drive but my computer is about 6 years old. It is a dell
dimension 2400. Maybe it's time for a new computer but I sure don't want to
deal with vista.

  Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean about the right drive. I have a cd/dved
burning
drive but they both share the same tray and I have an A drive. Are you
saying you have two disc drive trays and one floppy drive A?

    Hi,

When I put the dvd in, I think it is trying to read the disc but in
about
  30
seconds, it pops back out. My machine is about 6 years old. I was told
  to
use a dvd burning program but I'm not sure if the disc will stay in. I
have windows xp home edition. It is a Dell dimension 2400 computer. It
    uses a Celeron interface.

The disc is ejected when Windows cannot cope with it.
This may be because it is a faulty disc or the drive cannot cope with
the
    format.
AT the very least you should be getting a message asking what you want
to
    do with the disc.
How many DVDs have you tried?
Some DVDs stacks are not of great quality. And I have had to discard
  quite
    a few.
If many DVDS are getting this reaction it is difficult not to conclude
  that
Your drive is behaving as if it is not a DVD burner.

For 33 gb of backup I would normally recommend anyway that you use an
external drive. Actually I would backup on more than one external drives
  if
the data is really important. I realise that this is a more expensive
  option
but at least it will be possible to easily update your backup.

    Hi,

When I put the dvd in the drive, it spits it out so will this software
recognize it is a dvd? I have a 33 gig drive and I need to back up my
    stuff.

It may be that you have a CD burner but only a DVD read capacity.
Some
older drives did not have a DVD burn capacity.

If you do believe that you have a DVD burner you will need DVD burning
software. There is no DVD Burner included with XP . I would suggest
that
you go to the Jaws User Programs page where there are several free
  programs
    which will burn DVDS.

    Hi,

I have windows xp home. My d drive I believe is a cd/dvd burner. When
I
put a blank dvd in the drive, it spits it out. I don't have a dvd
player
attached with my computer but I am just trying to back up my system onto
dvd's. Do I have to buy some kind of program so the dvd's don't spit
out
  or
something? I have tried the minus dvd's and the plus ones and they both
    spit them out.
