Yep, a flash drive is the same as a thumb drive or a jump drive.

Hi,
I'm just backing up my stuff that's on the computer. I hope jaws is
accessible with a flash drive. Is that the same as a thumb drive because
I
think I saw a jaws download for thumb drives. I've already experienced
starting over and you definitely can't do it yourself. I bought 100 dvd
discs so I hope some way I can use them.

Exactly what do you want to back up? Do you want to back up everything on
your computer or just selected files? If you want to back up your entire
system, you should use your 16gb flash drive instead of DVD's , which can
only hold about 4.5gb of data each. Once you decide what you want to back
up and what media to store it on, you have to choose a program for
performing the backup. But there's a dirty little secret about all these
backup programs that nobody likes to talk about. If your hard drive
suffers
a catastrophic crash and you need to perform a complete system recovery,
you
will need tech-savvy sighted help to get up and running again regardless
of
which program you choose. This is because you won't have any speech to
guide you through the restore process. If there is an easy way to perform
a
complete system restore from an external hard drive or flash drive that
does
not require the use of an inaccessible boot CD, I would sure like to know
about it.

Hi,
I wanted to back up my stuff in my computer but when I put a dvd in the
tray, in about 30 seconds, the dvd pops out. Jaws does not say anything
while this process is going on. I am using windows xp home and my
computer
is about 6 years old.n I have a Celeron processor. I can't figure how
to
burn stuff on the dvd disc.

Hi,
I'm not sure what program to use. There are dvd burning programs on the
program page but I haven't tried any yet. Is there any certain one that
works with jaws the best way?

Which program are you planning to use to back up your system onto DVD?
Have
you considered using a USB flash drive or portable hard drive instead of
DVD's?

Hi,
When I put the dvd in the drive, it spits it out so will this software
recognize it is a dvd? I have a 33 gig drive and I need to back up my
stuff.

It may be that you have a CD burner but only a DVD read capacity.
Some
older drives did not have a DVD burn capacity.
If you do believe that you have a DVD burner you will need DVD burning
software. There is no DVD Burner included with XP . I would suggest
that
you go to the Jaws User Programs page where there are several free
programs
which will burn DVDS.

Hi,
I have windows xp home. My d drive I believe is a cd/dvd burner. When
I
put a blank dvd in the drive, it spits it out. I don't have a dvd
player
attached with my computer but I am just trying to back up my system
onto
dvd's. Do I have to buy some kind of program so the dvd's don't spit
out
or
something? I have tried the minus dvd's and the plus ones and they
both
spit them out.
