That's what I thought, but as someone else pointed out, you do if you want
to assign a shortcut key to the my documents folder.
Cheers

That's silly you don't need 2 shortcuts going to the same place.

Although why you'd want two shortcuts on the desktop pointing to your my
documents folder is anybody's guess. Cheers Alex

Yes, but you should be able to create another shortcut on the desktop, with
a different name, but in fact targeting that path, and that will work.

Simplest is to browse to your C: drive in windows explorer, go to the
documents and settings folder (if it's being displayed and not hidden as
such), find your specific username in the list therein, hit enter on it, and

in that folder, you'll find the actual my documents folder, and you hit
enter on it, then tab once to go to the address bar, copy the contents
thereof to the clipboard, then tab again until you're back in the
file/folder listing, hit backspace enough times til you are back at the
desktop level - check using the read title command of your screenreader -,
and as long as nothing is selected, on the file menu, you can go down to the

new submenu item, right arrow, go down to shortcut and paste the path
therein, click on the next button, and type a new name that doesn't match
any existing desktop item, click on finish, and then you'll be able to
assign a shortcut key to it on the desktop by going into the shortcut
properties dialogue.

Stay well
