Hi Marilyn,
If you copy something to the Windows clipboard, it remains there untilat
least one of two things happens.
1. you copy something else to the clipboard, which over-writes what was
already there.
2. You re-boot the computer, in which case the clipboard is emptied when the
memory is dumped.
The clipboard is not application specific, meaning,
if for example you copy text from a Notepad file, and then close Notepad,
the text remains on the clipboard and could be pasted into Microsoft Word
document, or some other text editor.
If you have copied a full page of text to the clipboard,
all you would have to do is copy a space to the clipboard, and all of the
text would be gone, leaving only the space.

I don't want to accidentally copy and paste into a new e mail and then send
it to the next person rather than to the one I thought I wanted to send it
to. In other words, sometimes I decide not to send it but think it remains
on the clip board. If I'm borrowing trouble, please let me know. I have
enough computer issues already. marilyn
