Hi John, I have been removing my flash drives incorrectly. I have been closing them and then just pulling them out. I need to start using the safely remove hardware application and make it a habit. I have had a couple of problems with this particular flash drive in the past and so I made sure it was clean before putting all the same information on it again today. Normally, flash drives come formatted to FAT32, which has a size limitation of 2gb. So maybe you actually only successfully downloaded 12 files instead of the 45 you thought. Just a hunch.
