Hi,
You don't need turn off UAC, when I wanted turn on NVDA Portable, I pressed
the shortcut and it was running. I didn't try turn it on from CD, but I
think, if you set one-time, that you want run it after put the CD to the
computer, it'll recognize and run it everytime automatically.
With best regards,

NVDA portable works under Windows 7, with the exception that programs
that require higher level access than the standard user account will not
speak. They will however with the installed copy. They will also speak
if you set the notification level of user account control to 0% and
restart your computer. It's this user account control that can force
programs to run at a higher level. But I don't look at this as a
disadvantage as I'm a main JAWS user but use NVDA as a backup.
