I tried to find the cable on Perkins, APH and ILA.  MLS says it is 
commercially abailable, not readily, usb male on one end; the other, female 
without shell or jacket.  Any help appreciated, Don

If you will be downloading books you will also need a cable to connect the
cartridge to the computer for transferring the downloaded books to the
cartridge which then will play on the player..
 I believe the cable costs $3.
