What hasn't been made clear to me is that if you do not have a paid for player but instead merely have the free NLS digital player can you still have access to the BARD site? THe reason I ask is that you can download books from the BARD site and move them to a tumb drive or blank cartridge and play them on the free NLS player so can recipients of the free player have access to that site?

The Library of congress locks their publications to their players because they are publishing materials that sighted people normally would need to pay for. They are giving these materials to the blind for free. But they can only do that if they can limit the ability to distribute this copy righted material freely on the net.
