Hi Ishe;

Where does one find the NVDAInstallation Directory? The only place that I
find a folder with other files is in the root of the CDrive/Program Files
and there is not a folder in there named "userConfig". All help is deeply
appreciated.  Thanks much.  Take care.
Mike

Hi Steve,

Well, go to NVDA installation directory. You should browse to a directory
called "userConfig". Here you will see a file called "nvda.ini", trusting
that your Windows Explorer or any file manager you may be using shows file
extensions.
Make sure that NVDA is not running.
Open this INI file in your favourite text editor: find a section labelled
"[speech]".
Find a line that starts with "voice=", for instance mine reads like this:
  voice = en\en
  variant = max
  rate = 55
  pitch = 40
  inflection = 75
  volume = 100

Make sure the voice=value is set to "en\en" for British English: (well you
can change to American or any other later on).

I only referred to deleting unneeded language files, but you can ignore
this. However, if you are cock sure (like What I do) that you will never
speak any other language other than English, you can later on delete these
extra files in the directory called "Locale".

I hope this helps. If this does not do the magic, then you can contact me
off list and I will send you my Ini file which you can overwrite yours, then
change the settings later on.

May God bless you in your endeavour trusting that this works.
Cheers,

Ishe
