The first question's answer is no WMP does not need to be removed at all,
besides most people do not have that capability like you do. As to the rest
the only thing I am aware of is some people say the newer versions have more
security built in although I can not confirm or deny such claims.

I am thinking about installing WinAmp 2.80. Do I need to uninstall WMP11
first? What are the differences between WinAmp 2.80 and WinAmp versions
504, 508, 534, & 535? I am just trying to decide which of the WinAmp
programs to go with. Also, should the plug-ins be installed with the
program that I decide to go with? I am running XPSP3 Home & Jaws 10
latest.
