I use Thunderbird for my RSS feeds. The free email client, like
Outlook, is very accessible (NVDA and Window Eyes at least). Check out

Hi, Andre,
I haven't needed to do the R S S feeds either. I don't go on news
sites very often.

Its also a matter of what you're doing with the browser. If the
person is
doing very basic things then its possible he or she may have never
encountered a problem to make them conclude that jaws 4.5 won't work
with IE
8. Heck, I'm using jaws 12 and consider myself a knowledgeable computer
user, and I've never used the RSS reader thing--I've had no need to
do so.

Hi Gerald,
Have you tried a version earlier than 9, to back up your statement?
I am currently using version 6.2 with IE 8.
As far as earlier versions, I can't say since I don't have anything
that old
installed.

There's no way such an early version of JAWS could work with IE 8.
The
earliest version of JAWS that's known to work with IE 8 is JAWS 9.

Hi, Anna,
How did you get your version of jaws to work with internet
explorer 8? I
was
told that the two wouldn't work together. Were there any settings
you had
to
change or something like that?

Hi Rosemarie,
Correct me if I am wrong but I think you said that Jaws 5.10 does
not
work
with internet explorer eight .
but I am running Jaws 4.5 on my old computer and internet
explorer eight
works just fine.
I am not sure but I think that jaws 4.5 is an earlier version
than jaws
5.10. I do not under stand why you say that Jaws 5.10 will not
work with
internet explorer eight.
well anyway I just wanted to tell you that the internet explorer
eight
works with Jaws 4.5 so I do not see why it will not work with
Jaws 5.10!

Hi, Andre,
My brother-inlaw said that firefox was more secure than internet
explorer.
I
know firefox works great with NVDA. Maybe IE 7 or 8 would work great
with
it
too. I have Jaws 5.10 and that won't work with the newer versions of
internet explorer.
I'll give it some thought and let you know if I decide to upgrade or
not.
Thanks very much for your help.
Rosemarie
