The number you provided is for the latest definition file, which would be
used with both versions of the software to define today's known viruses.
Unfortunately, I could not find an About box or similar place that
identifies the version within the program. If you look at the "Programs and
Features" list ("Add / Remove" for XP), it should provide the proper version
number. This is what I get:
Microsoft Security Essentials Microsoft Corporation 2.0.657.0
Don Marang
There is just so much stuff in the world that, to me, is devoid of any real
substance, value, and content that I just try to make sure that I am working
on things that matter.

HI Maria, Andre, Don, Gerald, & Rick;
After going to the website provided by Don& Andre I downloaded / Saved my
appropriate version and Installed / ran it from my C Drive. As Maria
stated, when I went to run it, the first dialog was to upgrade. Well,
that
is what I did and when it was all said & done, I checked MSSE Update, &
the
new version is, Virus definition version: 1.95.2118.0. Have anyone who
has
upgraded checked to find out what version they ended up with? I am just
curious as to what version others have installed after doing the upgrade.
As stated above, I didn't end up with 2.0 at all and just curious what
happened with others. Thanks much. Take care.
Mike

After downloading MSE from Don's link and running setup, I tabbed to
upgrade, and away it went on it's merry way to installation.
