I Have encountered no problems using Adobe Reader X on my XP Pro machine. However, I did have trouble initially until I figured out that you have to uncheck the box labled "Display PDF Documents In the Browser" on the fifth and final screen of the Accessibility Set-Up Assistant located under Accessibility on the Edit menu. Otherwise, JAWS will not work properly. In previous versions of Adobe Reader, this check box was unchecked by default.

Hello there;

Well, the experience I had was, that, adobe 10 wouldn't work on the xp
machine I was working on.
After installing adobe 10x, I tried opening different PDF files, and it just
wouldn't happen, so I reverted back to 9.
Note, as I indicated, this is my experience, not a definite solution, maybe
others got adobe 10x to work on xp.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Upgrading Adobe Reader 9 to 10

Good Morning All,

I have Adobe Reader 9.4.3 on my XP Home with SP3 machine and would like to
upgrade to version 10 or whatever the latest version is that works with
JAWS. JFW 9 and 10 are on the machine and I have a SMA for 11 if necessary.

Is the best way of doing it to use check for updates in the Adobe Reader
help menu or to uninstall the existing program and to go to the Adobe
accessibility site and get version 10 from there? IE 8 and Firefox 3.6.16
are both on the machine.

Any downloading and installation tips in addition to trying to keep a close
eye out for the pesky Google stuff would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Margaret
