Hello Margaret,
I am using Adobe Reader 10, with XP. I was having problems at first. I
had just downloaded Adobe 10, as I needed it to read a police scanner owner's
manual, that is a PDF document. I had a lot of help from these lists, but
still couldn't get it to read. My wife who has some sight, said the document
was there. I finally called Freedom Scientific. With their help JAWS now
reads the documents. I am using, JAWS 12.0.525.

David,
Thank you very much for sharing your experience with Adobe Reader 10 and XP.
When the new Adobe Reader came out, I thought I remembered that a number of
people with screen readers were having problems getting it to work properly.
Then, it seemed that folks were having fewer problems with it. Maybe these
were on Win 7 machines or I got it confused with another Adobe product.
Maybe more folks running XP will chime in and I'll wait and see if your
experience is unique, although I suspect it isn't.

Hello there;
Well, the experience I had was, that, adobe 10 wouldn't work on the xp
machine I was working on.
After installing adobe 10x, I tried opening different PDF files, and it just
wouldn't happen, so I reverted back to 9.
Note, as I indicated, this is my experience, not a definite solution, maybe
others got adobe 10x to work on xp.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Upgrading Adobe Reader 9 to 10
Good Morning All,
I have Adobe Reader 9.4.3 on my XP Home with SP3 machine and would like to
upgrade to version 10 or whatever the latest version is that works with
JAWS. JFW 9 and 10 are on the machine and I have a SMA for 11 if necessary.
Is the best way of doing it to use check for updates in the Adobe Reader
help menu or to uninstall the existing program and to go to the Adobe
accessibility site and get version 10 from there? IE 8 and Firefox 3.6.16
are both on the machine.
Any downloading and installation tips in addition to trying to keep a close
eye out for the pesky Google stuff would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Margaret
