Hi Alan,
Typically, soundcards are internal, either being chips on the motherboard, or plugged into an internal PCI slot, USB soundcards, as the name implies, are simply inserted into a open USB port on the outside of the computer. As I mentioned in an earlier post this week, they may be about the size of a flash drive,
or a stand alone unit connected to the computer via a USB cable.
The simplest ones that plug directly into a USB port, have a jack for speakers, and one for a microphone, while the stand-alone units may be equipped with more connections and features.
HTH,
Rick Justice

Dear David and friends,
I know this is going to make me seem stupid, but well, fine, but what is the difference between a

USB sound Card
and
A regular sound card?

Thanks and sorry for this message!

With Best Regards,

Like I wrote yesterday check out:

www.tigerdirect.com

and search for USB sound cards. I have bought 4 of them from there over the
years and they are all still in service.

I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up
too.

Thanks Rick:
I'm trying to accomplish something here and a friend suggest getting USB
sound cards and suggested a Kingston or san disk so I just googled for San disk USB sound cards and I wasn't coming up with nothing lol thanks for the
heads up though and letting me know san disk USB cards are non-existent.
Wow, I felt like I was looking for a corner in a circular room last night! I
kept going round and round with google and found nothing.
Take care.

Hi Kimsan,
I don't think that Sandisk makes USB soundcards, but you can give this a
look:

http://www.sandisk.com/consumer-products

You can also look at Creative Labs, maker of Soundblaster:

http://us.creative.com/products/welcomenew.asp?category=1

Some cards are about the same size of a flash drive, and others are a
stand-alone box that connects to the computer via USB cable.
In either case, keep in mind that you will need
a set of speakers for each soundcard if you are going to use them at the
same time.

Where is a good place to purchase USB sound cards?

Thanks.

I suppose I can google this but wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion you
know?

Thanks.
