Hi Alan.
Barbara might get questions about what the device is. All she has to do is
to tell them that it's a note taker designed for the blind.
This is unlikely, but they might scan the device for security reasons. If
she has any files on it, I'd recommend that they be backed up on a disk just
in case.

There's no way to tell what security people might do. But normally, they
don't scan laptops or other devices including things like Blackberries.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] A question about a Braille 'n Speakand flying

Dear Friends,
I do not have a Braille 'n Speak, but a friend does and is worried about
taking it on a airplane with her, getting it past Security I suppose with
them perhaps damaging it.
Please read her message below.
Can some one please give me some advice I can pass on to her?

Thanks so much!

With Best Regards,
Alan

Alan, i am leaving for Florida on June 27. I have never taken my Braille
'n Speak with me on the plane. Would you ask some of your blind friends if
they are going to give me any trouble at security? Also will they do
anything to the device? Any other issues your friends might know about as I
will be traveling alone. I will fly non stop to Orlando which is a help.
Any assistance you can provide will be very helpful and appreciated.
