Yes I have a hot key for Jaws, both versions I have on here plus NVDA. Very handy :). Yes desktops are meant for icons, but if one has many shortcuts on there, it slows down booting and such. All depends on how much you have. You don't need a seperate folder for each. For example I use Eudora for email. I can go into where the eudora.exe file is stored, create a shortcut in that folder, assign it a hot key, and that is it. You can make a shortcut to folder or external drives as well which is very handy.

oh my gosh!! I need to do that for jaws!!!
Let's see, what can I blame that on this time? lol
I think if I did all that method your saying, I'll need another folder to keep track of all of them. So, which is the best preferred method to not clutter up one's desktop, which btw..isn't that what desktops are for? I had a teeny situation almost made me freak, but I got under control quickly. Somehow there's apparently another one of me named ASUS user, I knew it! I now have a genuine reason to listen to the voices..
It's my Chinese self, hehehe.

Well, I had to get another cup of coffee, so when I returned, the Chinese babe she wasn't talking Chinese thank God! But no desktop, no start menu, but a logon forwindows, um that kindof put me in panic mode.
Then I found the real me and entered on her, I was back in business whew!
Maybe I otta just assign some of them hot keys even one for me?? grins

Thanks,
Trish

Yes ma'am. Just a shortcut link to your actual
foldre :). On the shortcut icon you can also
assign a hot key such as alt shift m as I have,
and you can access it right quick. To keep your
desktop cleaner, you can also just make a
shortcut in your folder where your documents
exist, go in the properties of the new shortcut
and assign it a hot key right there. That way you
can stil access it quick without extra load time of icons on your desk :).
