I am running Windows 7 Professional and whenever I open a folder on any of my 
drives, I get the message, Not Responding.  For example if I try and open the 
folder, Downloads,  on my C drive, I can navigate a few files but after only a 
few seconds the message, Downloads Not Responding.  If I try and alt f4 out of 
the folder I get a message saying, 
Windows Explorer is not responding
Windows can check online for a solution. If you restart or close the program, 
you might 
lose information.
Check for a solution and restart the program.
Close the program.
Wait for the program to respond.
View problem details .

If I click on, check online and restart the program, it shuts down Windows 
Explorer and I have to reboot.
If I click on, wait for the program to respond, I have to wait 5 minutes or so 
and then I can navigate the folder, but only that folder and if I navigate to a 
different folder the problem reoccurs.
When I click on, view problem details, I get this message:

  A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

I have been having this problem for several months and have tried Googleing for 
a solution but haven’t found an answer yet.

Any suggestions?
