I keep hearing that this is some kind of bug in Windows 7. You might try the following. Go to windows explorer. Tab to organize. Press applications key. Go to layout submenu. Uncheck preview pane. That fixed my problem.

I am running Windows 7 Professional and whenever I open a folder on any of my drives, I get the message, Not Responding. For example if I try and open the folder, Downloads, on my C drive, I can navigate a few files but after only a few seconds the message, Downloads Not Responding.
