What I do instead is tab through the Fields at the top and one will usually say Add a Contact. I open this and tab till I see the person's name and e-mail address. If I want to talk further with the person, I will go ahead and add them to MY Contacts. But, if it is a one time thing, I copy the e-mail address either to the clipboard or remember it and cancel the add a contact. I then just put that in the to field. This has worked for me and it is not as cumbersome as it sounds. Do it a couple times and it is easy.

Hello there;
First;
In order to use the reply privately,
Yu need to enter on the message,
Then press the shift+insert+r.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to work anymore.
If you want to get someone's email from a message,
So you can email them privately,
Do the following;
1, enter on the message,
2, Now press,
Alt+#1 twice quickly,
Now find the person's email address,
Select the text, then copy to the clipboard,
Now when you create a new message,
Just paste from the clipboard in the to field.

Perhaps you need to be in the message itself?

It doesn't work for me either.
I'm using the Thunderbird email program and Windows 7.

Hi Lenny,

Try using keyboard help& see what that says for the insert, shift, + R,
keystroke. As far I know this is the keystroke to reply directly to
sender
in both Windows7& XP, at least it does on both my Windows7& XP systems.
Take care.

   Hi Lennie,

   The keystroke, insert, shift, + R, works most of the time. I say most
of
   the time because sometimes you have to do it 3 or 4 times! LOL LOL

   This keystroke is for Jaws 10 versions& newer. Hope this helps. Take
   care.

     Is there anyway to reply privately to a post? I think I tried every
   keystroke and was unsuccessful. even the application key would not
allow
me
   to do a private reply. The only way that I found was to go to the
message
   source and find the email address and copy it.
