What happens when you press Windows + b? This normally places you on the Notifications chevron in the Notifications Area. If you can still press the Applications key in the Notifications Area, and find the Customize icons option, the following should reverse your changes. Once the Customize dialog appears, press Shift + Tab a few times until you reach a "Restore default icon behavior" link.
