At one point with all of my random maneuvering, when I routed JAWS to PC, I could hear restore default icons behavior as you suggested, but I could do nothing to enable that setting. It never appeared on the tab. I wish it would have.

This normally places you on the Notifications chevron in the Notifications Area. If you can still press the Applications key in the Notifications Area, and find the Customize icons option, the following should reverse your changes.
