Virtual machines seem waaaay too complex to me to setup, and I’ve not had any
luck with talking dosbox so far, though it’s something I need to look into.

All the best,

Dark.

Oh yes you can enjoy yesteryear’s games.
1. Talking dosbox with NVDA for its speech and asap as dos screen reader.
2. 2. Windows xp in a VMware player virtual machine.
And have fun.

Subject: [blind-gamers] Free games, etc.

Hi all,
I personally support Jason Allen’s decision to make “Entombed” a free
download. This practice has been happening for years. “Super Deekout” is a
classic example. I personally did not have the opportunity to purchase this
game but shortly after receiving my XP machine in 2008, this game became a free
title and I spent many enjoyable hours playing the full version.
I too have spent money on games which are no longer supported such as
Somethin’ Else’s titles. I particularly miss Audio Defence but I have dealt
with it and moved on. I purchased many titles under XP which I don’t think
would work under Windows 10 but I accept this. Surprisingly, Pacman Talks works
perfectly under Windows 10 and I did not mind purchasing this again as it is a
game I will never tire of.
I was  away from the Windows environment here for 6 years, preferring only to
own  a  Mac. While I could have boot camped my Mac, I personally didn’t feel
comfortable doing this. One of the reasons I wanted to come back to Windows was
for gaming.
While it is true that I may never be able to enjoy a lot of the old Windows
games from yesteryear, I have discovered games which I wasn’t aware of up until
6 weeks ago. I am enjoying a lot of Oriel Gomez’s games (I think they are just
brilliant!), and I personally can’t go past “World of War”, “Audiostrike” or
“March Massacre”.
Just my 2 cents for what it is worth.
David
