That depends on whether the client could put the input bar in its own window, which I don't think Nexus, at least, can do. The documentation says it can put chat and maps in separate windows, but that may only work on Iron Realms games, not third-party muds like Alter. I checked the box for "clear command line after sending" and I still have to clear the line myself. And I've never heard anything about splitting the input and output window. Think of the client as a word processor containing a document with ten paragraphs of text in it, of which you're working on the tenth one. Now assume you want to put a company name from paragraph seven in paragraph ten. You scroll up to seven, highlight your text, and copy it. Then you scroll back to ten, put your cursor where it needs to be, then paste. That back-and-forth between paragraphs seven and ten is equivalent to moving between the input and output portions of the screen, the only difference being that you can't txpe tex in the output portion. Flipping between windows would be like having two documents open and having things set up so typing anything in document 1, input, would automatically have it display in document 2, output. And I don't THINK clients do that. All Nexus has in its settings is an option something like "keep duplicate chat in separate window". But nothing about having the input bar in its own window, though that would be cool.
