Hi.
Honestly there is nothing to be scared about shutting down Jaws to play 
games. All you really need to do is make sure your screen reader, Jaws, 
icon as an associated hot key such as alt+control+j to relaunch Jaws 
when the game is finished.
As for why you need to put screen readers to sleep or to shut down there 
is a technical reason behind it. In short Some game developers such as 
myself use a program called DirectX by Microsoft which is used for 
handling game devices for games. Problem is when using DirectX to handle 
the keyboard for example the game and Jaws wants to have  control of the 
keyboard, and ends up locking up the keyboard.
the end solution is to have one or the other loaded at a time and not both.
