It's still illegal cause the company still has rights to them.

Not to mention that after a time limit of so many years when the console
is no longer in operation that is to say when games have stopped being
diveloped it is actualy legal to copy the games. THink that only
qualify's for personal use mind u but there we are.

    Hi Allan and all.

I hope to hell I can get them back too, I cannot believe I did not
  back
those up somewhere! Arg! Chewing nails. As to the legality well let
  me
say this. Strictly speaking what is legal is that if you have the
  actual
cartridge in your possession then it is legal to have copies of the
  roms
however in practice I doubt if anyone is going to much care. As many
  of
these things that are floating around at yard sales and thrift stores
  and
whatnot there is no way anyone could tell if you had it or you didn't.
Having said that, I will also say though that I too will not share any
sources of roms publically on this list because I feel it violates the
spirit of the list. Just for information, stella in and of itself is
  in no
way illegal and yes feel free to search it up and try it it is really
  cool.

    Regards,

    Tom

    Hey Tom,
I changed the subject line since the conversation changed.
I hope you can restock your atari games without loss. Can I ask you
  were you

would get something like that and how accesible it might be. Is it
  legal?
    thanks, allan
