Here is the deal with Gamepads and Steering Wheels.
Gamepads:
When using a Gamepad it must be connected to the PC prior to starting
the game. Also, upon initial connection the first time you must
calibrate it from the games section of the control panel. You need to
use your mouse cursor of your screen reader to read the screens. It will
tell you what to do to calibrate the joystick or gamepad.
Steering Wheels:
At least on my system to get the Force Forcefeedback working I had to
install the Logitech software. If I did not then the wheel would work in
basic mode just steering and basic button programming. However, once
installed I can go into that same game controller applet under the
control panel and upon pressing buttons or moving the steering wheel it
force feedbacks at me and shows me it's working. No calibration was
needed then.
I've been using this wheel for a couple of weeks now and just love it.
