Hi, Jim. check out the Visual Basic and DirectX 8 book on the blindprogramming site I submitted a couple of years back. It should give you some basic understanding of the process involved. In my opinion you won't need to support both digital and analog game devices as analog devices are becoming a thing of the past, but it would be up to you.
