There is a bug in the restock function whereby one can, if docked at a
station restock weapons and fire multiple (at least three, and probably
only limited by the station's stocks) times in a turn. I managed to fire
270 photons from Defiant, while it was docked with a damaged DS9, thus
saving my bacon.
I tried using the non-menu mode, but couldn't find any way of learning the
key commands. I found several by trial and error, but it seems the entire
tactical system is not accessible through the hot-key interface, and
possibly several others.
The manual mentioned rerouting power, but I did not see how to do this.
I'm a bit confused by the scale of the game. How big is a sector? The
scans always seem to report the enemy ships as at 0 light years distance,
which makes tactical movement difficult.
Couldn't we just have a numerical coordinate system? Again, the scale
seems to make it harder for me to form a tactical picture of what's going
on, as B3 is, I think a ten ly x ten ly square, and where I am in that
square might matter for combat, weapons ranges, etc.
I'm not a big fan of the selecting numeric values for course, number of
weapons etc. Did you choose to eliminate numeric data entry for a reason?
These questions point to things that slow me down in playing the game and
take away from my sense of tactical control.
